This LeapPad book and cartridge tells the Shrek 2 story, while reinforcing parts of speech with 13 timed word sorting games. The movie theme, characters and voices are nicely captured, minus any off color jokes, and all the print is narrated when you touch it with a stylus. With the exception of a comprehension quiz at the end of the book, most of the games follow a similar timed format, for example, a child is asked to find as many antonyms as possible). There is no leveling, record keeping or integration of a child's performance from page to page. Nevertheless, this would be an excellent supplement to any early elementary reading curriculum, either at home or school. Other 2nd grade LeapPad titles include Cat in the Hat, Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle, Hit it Maestro, Monsters Inc. and SpongeBob SquarePants Salty Sea Stories.
