This computer lab instruction software lets you communicate with, monitor and manage students from your desktop as you teach. Working with your existing TCP/IP network, the software lets you view all student screens at once via thumbnails. You can create and monitor chat sessions, poll or quiz the students, and lock student computers to focus attention. You can also respond to questions, take control of a student's computer to work through a problem, and broadcast your screen or any student's screen to the entire class-- all without leaving your desk. Note the current version is 7.0 (as of Spring 2007) with Windows Vista and CE compatibility, the ability to survey students, manage classroom records, the ability to “pass the chalk” to a student who then leads the lesson. A block application function – Teachers can block specific software applications, including games and the Internet, for an individual student, groups or the whole class. Broadcast media simultaneously – Teachers can broadcast video to student computers simultaneously, using common media formats, including Windows Media® player, MPEG, AVI and QuickTime® application program. Easy on-screen thumbnail arrangement – Teachers can view desktops individually or sort thumbnails of student desktops to reflect the classroom layout or any other desired configuration. An application icon in the thumbnail view tells the teacher what each student is working on. Teachers, assistants and administrators can also monitor any number of student screens on the network, including students running dual monitors, providing a full view of student activity. Voting and quiz statistics – Teachers can quickly survey the class with a simple vote, or they can create and distribute more complex quizzes. They can view advanced statistics of results including quiz score median, mode, range, standard deviation and the percentage of students who answered each question correctly. Import digital quizzes – Teachers can save time by quickly and easily importing existing XML quiz bank files into SynchronEyes. Export marks to Microsoft Excel® software – Teachers can export quiz results to Excel software for easy reporting. Pass control to a student – Teachers can allow selected students to demonstrate a concept or example by handing over control to them during the teacher broadcast. Enhanced wireless support – Teachers can use SynchronEyes software to monitor and control students’ work on a wireless network. Through patent-pending technology, SynchronEyes software can share screens using less than the network bandwidth of previous versions. Import existing content – Teachers can import images and data from existing text files into the Quiz Wizard. They can now include mathematical symbols, alter fonts and colors, add bullets and change paragraph styles in their quizzes. Automated class-list creation – Teachers can create class lists that include anyone connected to the network and can automatically add students.
