Designed to introduce multiplication and division skills, this program features animated instructions and audio explanations of each new concept. It can be played in either English or Spanish. On screen manipulatives are available to increase understanding of the concepts of multiplication, division, missing factors and dividends. As children solve each problem, these on-screen objects form a visual representation of each problem. After the facts are learned, the software advances to multiplication of multiple digits, problems that require regrouping, and long division with remainders. Teachers can customize the exercises for the entire class or each individual student including starting level, on-screen manipulatives, auto advance, and number of tries per problem. A progress report of each student is tracked and can be printed. While the program is potentially effective, there are some shortcomings. Entering answers can be awkward. For example, if 12 is the answer, children are directed to type the two first and then the one, which is fine for more complex problems but counterintuitive for basic fact-learning. Graphics are dated, too, and students don't have an easy to see, on-screen record of progress so they know how much more they have to do to complete a level or activity.
