Palm Zire 71 Handheld
© 2003 Palm, Inc.
This color screen PDA is useful for keeping student records and taking anecdotal records. The built-in medium power camera, which pops up from the top, is useful for capturing a child's work at a moment's notice, and then jotting a few notes about it. Features include a joystick-like 5-way navigator; the ability to store MP3s, video clips and audio books; rechargeable batteries; and a cradle (included) for synching to popular calendar programs. The device is powered by an ARM processor, and comes with 16MB of memory, although it is expandable-- necessary if you want to take more than 32 pictures. The Zire 71 is ample evidence that the Palm platform is alive and well, and that Palm is not afraid to innovate. If you use a 100 series Palm, the Zire 71 will make you want to trade up.
