This is a curriculum video-on-demand system that integrates full length videos, key concept video clips, still images, teacher guides, lesson plans, and interactive online assessments and assignments. The heart of the service are its videos, produced by such entities as ABC, Paramount, Slim Goodbody, and ChannelOne.com. The end result is a comprehensive learning tool for teachers, students, and administrators with complete record-keeping and an internal messaging system. Teachers simply search the video database by subject or keyword, and the service provides them access to 2,000 full length videos. Each of these can be viewed in its entirety or can be viewed in key-concept segments that zero-in on just the specific concept a teacher wants to address. The videos cover every K-12 subject, and are correlated to state and national standards. Multiple bit-rate encoding of the videos allows for better streaming on slow Internet connections. Students can view the videos from home Internet access, too. Additional special options include the ability for schools to have their own video content server on their own local network. Currently, some 15,000-20,000 schools have subscribed, at a base price of $1000 per school. District, region and state-level discounts are available. Visit www.dclearn.com for more information. Pricing is per school, based upon student enrollment.  As of November, 2003, a subscription includes access to all three video libraries (K-6, 6-9, and 9-12), download rights, and "complete care" technical support. Pricing for 10-199 students is $995, 500+ students is $1,695. See also United Streaming.
