Alice in Vivaldi's Four Seasons The Music Game
© 2003 Music Games International
Guided by the Cheshire Cat, children help Alice escape from a magical musical clock by playing 12 games and activities. Many of the games are based on Music Game International's Music Jigsaw Puzzle concept. The object is to recreate passages from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons by listening to the music and combining the appropriate instruments. This is a wonderful, fun exercise in ear training. Other activities include poems and riddles, an interactive encyclopedia of musical instruments and a narrated biography of Vivaldi. A sign-in feature lets children jump right in where they left off each time they play. Flaws include too much non-interruptible narration and no straightforward way to get directly to the activities. These are minor criticisms, however. In general, we found the program to be both entertaining and educational; another solid introduction to a rich collection of music.
