This racing game is similar to the Mario Kart series, with multi-player options and playful interactions between the cars, but it is much faster paced. The ESRB descriptor reads "Violence", but it is nothing to worry about. With up to 4 players simultaneously, this could be a big hit for familles, especially in battle mode. Note that there are versions for PS2 and Game Cube; also on Game Boy Advance. We tested the console versions. Even our 5-year old tester did fine with this game. He had a little trouble with the optional manual shifting, but adults do also. Winning credits for car upgrades in the career mode is a nice touch. Understanding the defense options are a little tough at first. Sound is exceptional, not annoying. Note that even though this is a LEGO game, there are no plans on how to construct the vehicles in real life, or options to build-your-own cars (perhaps that is why the word LEGO was removed from the title of this edition. This game receives a high rating because it is easy to control, very fun, creative, and is as good as about any family race game.
