Teaches: physics, programming

CTR Review

This open-ended physics and programming playground offers limitless options for creativity, but is devilishly hard for a novice to use. You are provided with menus of tools with which you can create animated scenes, for instance, you add fish to an aquarium and make them swim, or you can program a series of events to get a golf ball over obstacles and into a hole. You can solve preset challenges, or you can create your own gadgets using springs, barriers and particles. Unfortunately, the icons are non-intuitive. There is an onscreen tutorial, but it’s so poorly designed and cumbersome to use, kids and even adults get frustrated quickly.
