Encyclopedia of Our Living Oceans

This beautifully done oceanography program entices students with fascinating photos, videos and interviews with marine biologists. The program is easy to use, searchable and would make a solid reference tool as well as an interesting unit enhancement. Students climb aboard a research ship to learn about dolphins, turtles, plankton and other organisms. They'll explore underwater oases and study the various distinct ecosystems that exist on rocky and sandy coasts. The program includes articles on the history of oceanography, marine biodiversity, and the unique plants and animals that inhabit two-thirds of the planet. There is little interactivity beyond clicking to navigate from one screen to another— activities would have been a nice addition— but all things considered, this is a compelling resource.
