CTR Review

Wonderful to explore but difficult to use as a research reference, this encyclopedia profiles 285 endangered species. Students explore a museum-like setting to visit slide show and video displays, read 16 articles and hear interviews with scientists in the field. Interactive maps and Internet links offer opportunities for further research. Trouble is, you can't search by generic terms. For instance, when we searched by words like snake or eagle, we came up empty-handed, when we know there is information on both topics. So, students looking for particular information will have to explore to find it. Teachers who take the time to get to know the program will find it useful, however, particularly as a resource on plant and animal extinction.
