Developed by Duke University, this fascinating two-CD set explores the decade of the 1960s via film clips, interviews, music, photographs and activities. Content is divided into ten modules, beginning with the Roots of the Sixties and continuing on through The Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War. Students will hear first hand accounts from individuals like Lieutenant Colonel Colby, Vietnam veteran and Gloria Steinem, activist and feminist. Interactive exercises include comparing prices of the 1950s and 60s to those of today, building a bomb shelter, analyzing presidential campaigns and designing a psychedelic propaganda poster. An interactive timeline showcasing events, fashion, personalities and trends completes the experience. The bottom line? After kids go through these modules, they'll have a real feel for what life was like in that turbulent decade. Our only real complaint? Some of the sections are too brief-- we wanted more of this rich content. All in all, though, this is an excellent use of interactive media.
