Teaches: utility that offers writing support for students as they use the word processor

CTR Review

This utility provides writing support for secondary students and is ideal for kids with learning disabilities or for those who simply struggle with writing. It appears as a toolbar that sits along the bottom of the computer screen. On the toolbar are a variable number of grids. Each grid contains a number of cells, each of which holds a word or a phrase that can be sent to your word processor simply by clicking on it. What this does is give students rapid point and click access to any number of words—for instance, difficult words, hard to spell words or technical words. Text-to-speech capabilities let the student hear the words. Teachers or students can create custom grids with their own words, or they can use one of the many word lists included in the program. As we see it, the application will help students write faster and encourage them to use a broader vocabulary.
