Play TV Jr. Construction
© 2002 Radica USA/Mattel
After plugging this playset into a VCR or TV, children see a map of a town with seven construction sites. There are houses to assemble, roads to pave, fish to catch, and plenty of rocks to crush. Each knob on the playset has a special function. Turning the playset's wheel helps kids select their site, pushing a lever makes the vehicles go forward, and another causes a hook to go up or down. Though the graphics aren't as crisp as those found in current console and computer games, the game play is simple and straightforward, best for children aged three to five. The simplicity is a strength, but it also limits the versatility of the activities. For instance, when kids pick from two houses to build with, they cannot scroll back and forth between their choices. Overall, this is a fun, interactive experience for a young child, but beware of the relatively steep price.
