Designed for students with special needs, this software tool reads written text aloud, highlighting it as it is spoken. It’s available in two versions. One provides optical character recognition (OCR), the ability to scan printed pages and convert them to electronic text, plus the reading aloud and highlighting features. The other version is simply the read-aloud and highlighting functions without the OCR. WebFocus, a feature available in both versions, cuts down the clutter if you are viewing web pages, to highlight only the most important information. Other features found in both versions include full editing capabilities, built-in dictionaries and word prediction. Windows only. We found the program fairly easy to use but the voices very unnatural-sounding-- just like a computer synthesizer. See WYNN 3.0.
