Fisher-Price Little People Discovery Airport

With its delightful activities and adorable graphics, this makes a very nice program for young preschoolers. It’s based on Fisher-Price’s popular Little People toy line and features five multilevel activities. Children can help the Little People characters build and paint airplanes, fly through mazes in the clouds and sort luggage by color and shape. They use their matching and listening skills to select planes for takeoff and practice their number recognition by matching traveling pets to their carriers. The activities are charming, particularly the pet activity. After kids match three pets to their appropriately numbered carriers, they can feed the animals and put them down for a nap. Our testers also enjoyed the plane building game and liked printing out their creations. Weaknesses of the program include repetitive instructions and overuse of praise. You can click through all this, though, which is nice. The sign-in page needs a forward arrow button--some test kids got stuck after they typed their name. These criticisms aside, the CD is quite pleasant and the nine printable pages (dot-to-dots, etc.) extend its content beyond the computer.
