This system was updated in 2005, to version 4.0. The following review was written in 2002. This package is designed to turn the LeapPad into a standards-based assessment tool for your for K-3 classrooms. With the Assessment System Kit, students work on the LeapPad platform using a removable ROM cartridge that captures student responses. The cartridge is then unplugged from the LeapPad, and plugged into a LeapPort Cartridge Station, which is attached by USB plug into a Windows 98 or better computer with a printer. This allows the student's data to be managed by the computer. Management features include the ability to assess student progress, report results, and prescribe an individualized learning path on the LeapPad. The classroom kit includes 100 skills, surveys in reading, math and language arts, 12 LeapPads, 80 LeapPad books, student cartridges, the LeapPort cartridge station, desktop management software and a curriculum integration guide.
