The Starbright Explorer Series is a line of CD-ROMs designed to educate children about certain diseases and health conditions. This one focuses on kidney disease and treatment. The program is extremely thoughtful and engaging, addressing topics in a playful, yet respectful, way. Children see and hear about other kids dealing with the disease. They'll take multiple-choice, game show style quizzes on the content, which covers functions of the kidneys, treatment procedures and medications, side effects, and so on. Also on the CD are three other learning areas (besides the kidney area). These areas are called "Exploring Our Incredible Blood", "Welcome to the Radiology Center" and "Spotlight on IVs". This is a must-have CD for hospitals and dialysis centers, and will be helpful to families and friends as well as patients.
