This product allows colleges or school districts to create their own integrated, online communities. Once up and running, the product serves as a campus-wide portal, allowing students, faculty and administration to access a unified network of campus information, services and communities. It's completely customizable, so each district's Campus Pipeline looks different, reflecting the school's own branding. Among the features are security, email, calendaring, automated class email lists, and automated course web pages, including syllabus, chat and message boards. Campus Pipeline integrates with existing administrative software— schools must tag relevant data from their own databases and then FTP it to Campus Pipeline, where the info (like student id, department, user name, password) is meshed into the system. Faculty members must input content to create class homepages. Students can use the system in many ways— to keep track of class schedules, news and assignments, for example, or to access a virtual student union area to find out campus or district-wide news. We found the product very user-friendly, with a clean, attractive interface. Currently, the product is in use at two K-12 sites and more than 100 college sites. Cost is based on number of students. For up to 4,000 students, for instance, there is a one time perpetual license fee of approximately $60,000-$70,000 plus a three-year maintenance fee of 15%-20% of the perpetual license fee.
