In this adventure arcade game, players join the Spy Masters, a group of kids who solve mysteries and fight crimes in the world of Arcadea. The villain, Prankster, and his band of pesky robots are wreaking havoc, and the Spy Masters must restore order. Play begins as you make your secret identity character. You'll steer this character around Arcadea, entering space-age buildings and playing arcade games with an educational twist. For instance, there's a moving target shooting game that quizzes geography and a robot challenge that tests spelling skills. Other games include a "shoot blobs into a blender" activity that quizzes integer operations. Game content covers 3rd-5th grade skills in math, science, history, geography and spelling. As you play the games, you earn clues to unmask the prankster and spy gear that will help you defend yourself against those roaming robots. Like its sister product, Spy Masters: Max Strikes Back, this program has both strengths and weaknesses. On the positive side, the overall game is fun to play-- our testers liked exploring the cool scenes and blasting robots. The educational games are uneven in quality, though, and some are too slow-paced. The instructions don't always provide enough information, and the games can get repetitive. On the whole, we prefer the Cluefinders series for multi-subject skill practice, but the spy theme of this series sure is cool.
