High School Advantage 2002
© 2001 Encore Software
The 2002 version of this high school skills bundle takes a back-seat in quality to its 2001 predecessor. What you're getting is a group of older programs, which was fine last year when the programs chosen were very good. This year, only a few of the 11 CDs are worth buying. The best are the three math programs produced by Aces Research, covering algebra, geometry and trigonometry. These offer animated explanations, tutorials, quizzes, etc., all teaching and reinforcing math skills. DK's World Atlas is solid, but dated. Encore/Kaplan's biology, chemistry, writing and US history titles are little more than textbooks on CD. The final three programs, Discovering World History, Webster's Teach Me Spanish and Learn Office 2000 are all mediocre programs at best. If you can still get a copy, buy High School Advantage 2001 instead— its compilation of software was great.
