In this playful introduction to world history, children ages five through eight set out on a mission to find tadpoles hiding in five different time periods. Kids travel back in time to ancient Egypt, Plymouth Rock, Marco Polo’s China, the lost civilization of the Incas and the first expedition to the South Pole. In each locale, they learn about what life was like during that era, and they play games and puzzles. When the missing tadpoles are located in each area, children are rewarded with a printable activity. Graphics are great, and the program is entertaining and educational. Younger children will need help the first time through, as things are initially confusing. Once kids get the hang of it, they’ll enjoy exploring and playing. Activities include designing a silly Sphinx, basic map reading, making Chinese lanterns and more. What children are getting is exposure— hopefully sparking further interest in history.
