Very much like a textbook on CD-ROM, this program offers lots of content, but poor use of the medium. Students can begin their studies by taking a diagnostic test, or they can go straight to the chapters. The six chapters have the following titles: Constitutional Foundations, Industrialization of the US and The US in the Age of Global Crisis. Each chapter features up to 20 topic areas, with information presented in non-narrated text and pictures. Extra features include crossword puzzles, quizzes, and report and test-taking strategies. Supposedly, the software is keyword-searchable, but we typed in five pertinent topics and our search came up empty each time! This program is part of a series of similarly designed CDs; other titles cover biology and chemistry and writing.
