History of the World 2.0/ Eyewitness World Atlas Value Pack
© 2001 DK Multimedia
This two-program bundle is dated (copy write 1998) but packed with content. History of the World 2.0 lets children easily access information on over 700 different topics via articles, videos and slides. Two quiz games are included, along with a searchable index. Other features include 200 biographies of people like Albert Einstein and John F. Kennedy, three and one half hours of audio, 25 videos and more than 700 photos, illustrations and maps. The Eyewitness World Atlas offers eight 3D flythrough movies that take you on a globe-wide tour. A real-time, spinning 3D globe displays world temperatures, populations, physical features and political boundaries. Content includes 25 videos, 250 photographs and 400 maps. Perfect for upper elementary and middle school students, this program would be inadequate for highschoolers as it only provides general geographic information. In order to compete with the Encarta atlases, the CD would need deeper content coverage in every respect, from text to maps to photos. Still, this is a good program for younger students who are looking for general geographical information.
