This two-CD set consists of the original engaging adventure game, where Polly, the daughter of a time travel scientist, plans to change history to match her incorrect answers on a school quiz. Kids are exposed to content from 12 subject areas, ranging from spelling and multiplication to music and fine arts. In the activities, children have to add numbers together to reconnect a generator, or put musical phrases from familiar songs into the correct order. They also have to make food for a robot using metric, molecular and common units of measurement and determine the path of a robot on a maze by reordering directions. Getting into the game takes a lot of patience. There's quite a bit of waiting through the non-interruptible description of the challenge and the game play. But the rest is worth waiting for. The activities are educationally strong, and the depth of the program is tremendous. Weaknesses include the excessive talking during the beginning of the program and the inability to turn off the music. Testers had few complaints and were very enthusiastic. We'd recommend this enjoyable program for home or classroom use. The second CD, Jumpstart Adventure Challenge, rewards kids' success with snow boarding, in-line skating, mountain biking and rock climbing games.
