Explorer Globe
© 2000 LeapFrog
2006: color changed to silver and green2005: updated geographical and statistical data. 2004: A bilingual (Spanish/English) version has been released. This touch sensitive, basketball sized globe rotates on stable pedestal. Once you turn on the power, you use a stylus pointer to freely explore the globe by simply touching any place to hear a label or a fact about the place. There's also a racing game called Eureka! that effectively challenges your geographic knowledge. In the free explore mode, you can touch any place to hear its name, capital, current time and distance from another point. You can also hear a sample music selection and find out the currency, the highest point or the area. The Eureka game asks you to find as many specific places on the globe in four 45 second periods. At the end of the timed period, you're given a progress report, which encourages you to compete against yourself. There are three levels of play and options for 1-4 players. This is an outstanding resource, excellent for every elementary and middle school classroom. An ear phone jack is included. Uses 4 size "C" batteries or an AC adapter. Note: See the Odyssey II for a newer version of this product.
