Mind Station Connector (formerly Mindlink)
© 2000 LeapFrog
Mindlink is a collection of technologies designed to let you plug toys into the Internet, by way of a special cradle device that you plug into your computer. Here's how it works. If you own one of five Leap Frog toys (more are planned) that contain a removable RAM cartridge, you can remove the cartridge from the toy, and plug it into a cradle (called the Leaplink) sign onto the Leap Frog web site (www.leapfrog.com), where you can upload your child's performance, have it evaluated and than download a new set of specially customized content. After download is complete, you plug the cartridge back into the toy and your child can resume play. Current products supported are Turbo Twist Spelling, Turbo Twist Math, Turbo Twist Fact Blaster, Jammin' Boom Box and School Time LeapTop, and are all in the $50 price range. Content possibilities include Weekly spelling lists assigned by teachers at school (LeapFrog plans to feature national standard spelling words from the most widely used school textbook publishers), math problems and games, including word problems, fractions and pre-algebra and a selection of age-appropriate fun facts based on what kids are learning in school - history, people, geography, science, nature, music and sports. (Sold by both LeapFrog and LeapFrog School House.)
