Best-suited for older teens and adults, this foreign language program offers straightforward instruction and practice in Spanish. Its fifteen in-depth lessons are awkward to navigate until you figure out how things work. Once you do, however, you'll find solid skill practice in a variety of activities including games, simulated conversations, record and playback exercises, and so on. We loved the electronic flashcard system for vocabulary development. Over 10,000 words are presented in the lessons that emphasize all areas of communication, including understanding, speaking, writing and reading. It's not as glitzy or content-packed as the competition, but a solid alternative nonetheless. Other CDs in this series teach French, Italian, German, Russian and Portuguese.
