Disney’s Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea
© 2000 Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media
The great graphics and terrific character renditions draw kids in to the undersea world of the Little Mermaid. Children play five activities derived from the video The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. Kids go deep sea diving for gems, choreograph underwater dances, negotiate mazes to free the powerful Trident, make Little Mermaid pictures and listen to and play music from the video. The games are responsive and well-designed but a little too few in number. Five and six-year-old Little Mermaid enthusiasts were absorbed by the program, playing all the way through. They loved riding on the sea turtles and avoiding sharks while looking for treasure and played the maze game repeatedly. Children also enjoyed creating dance routines with the easy-to-use choreographing tools. Levels, different "worlds" and open-ended creativity options spruce up the games, but even more activities would insure that children play over the long term.
