Learning for Life Volume 1

This program's goals are commendable: "To foster the health, safety, well-being and personal development of children". Content, which covers vandalism, drug sense and bullying, is divided into three age groups so that the presentation better matches children's developmental levels. The 76 lessons feature animation, friendly characters and a high level of interactivity— children participate in crossword puzzles, click and drag activities, poster-making and more. There is also an area on the CD with ample teacher information, lesson plans and printable materials. Our biggest complaint? Adults will need to monitor the usage of this program carefully. We completed sections incorrectly but the feedback given to us praised our good performance. And one more gripe— you can't get out of lessons once you've started them. Those issues aside, however, this safety and citizenship program is well thought-out and will make a nice contribution to elementary classrooms.
