This walkie-talkie sized , rechargeable battery operated handheld device lets children chat and with one another with an indoor range of up to 150 feet. Our testers loved repeatedly sending short insults to nearby friends. Two sisters, with adjoining bedrooms, loved the new ability to the game of checkers against each, after bedtime. Our biggest complaint: the micro qwerty keyboard is small and hard to use, making pecking out anything longer than "I am going crazy" tedious. Given the entry price ($260 for two), we'd recommend waiting for a better design and more software. Note that the all editions released later than 2000 have MP3 capability.
