Little Tikes JamCam, Jr.
© 1999 KB Gear Interactive
This is a basic, low resolution digital camera that easily plugs into your computer. The camera is battery operated (one 9 volt) and can hold up to 12 pictures in its memory. The resolution of the pictures is poor... 320 by 240, and controls could be improved. For example, the viewfinder has no lens, so children can't tell what they are capturing. Also, the button they press to take the picture lacks responsivity, so kids don't know if they've taken a picture or not. Overall, the quality is on-par with that of the Barbie Digital Camera.Included with the package is one of the better Disney Print Studio programs (Winnie the Pooh, 4.1 stars). Unfortunately, however, we were not able to get this software to directly import pictures from the camera! It is important to note that this camera is not a USB device... instead, it uses the older, more clunky, 9 pin serial port connection. It comes with a TWAIN driver on a floppy disk that must be installed before you can use the camera. Considering the price versus what you get, we'd wait for a USB model with higher resolution.
