Teaches: history of ancient Egypt

CTR Review

The mysteries and splendor of ancient Egypt are explored in this content-rich DVD-ROM offering over 180 minutes of interactive, full screen video. Five hundred photos and 50 blueprints, maps and diagrams bring the civilization to life, letting you examine incredible Egyptian art, artifacts, architectural structures and more. From the faraway past of Ramses, Nefertiti, and Tutankhamen, to modern day events like the assassination of Sadat, this software provides detailed imagery, narrated commentary and text. Content includes over 200 literary extracts, 20 thematic discussions and 10 tourist itineraries. Text can be printed. We found the program fascinating, but best-suited for older students and adults given its sophisticated language and fast-paced narration. It's also more passive than other Montparnasse products, almost like viewing a PBS documentary on computer.
