Inspired by Japanese video artist Toshio Iwai, this program lets kids compose musical "pictures" by placing programmable little bugs on a grid. Each bug can be given one of 40 instrument sounds, along with a speed and movement behavior. The result is a creative, visual math and music experience. It gives kids a chance to experiment with some powerful programming concepts like loops and even recursion in a visual way. This program was one of the winners of the international Bologna New Media Prize in 1997. See also Electroplankton (2006).
