We've finally had the pleasure of testing one of the latest characters in the Actimates line, Po from the Teletubbies. This one is designed for one to three year old fans of the Teletubbies show. Po is more economical than the more complex Actimates–— Barney, D.W. and Arthur, and our toddler testers have demonstrated that he (or she?) is just as loved. This talking, singing doll is about 18 inches in height. He has a soft, velvety body, with a 3 inch by 2 1/2 inch screen on his tummy. Toddlers can press this screen to make interesting light patterns and hear Po speak or play tunes. Pressing his hands and feet also result in engaging sounds. Kids at the lower end of the intended age range will enjoy seeing what kind of effect they can have on this doll. Children at the upper end will appreciate the light patterns they can make and playing familiar songs. The only downsides we could find were Po's weight— he's a bit hefty to carry around and the price— $59 is pretty expensive toy for a toddler. Testers, ages 14-26 months adored Po. Even our youngest tester became attached to him, dragging the doll around by the loop on his head.If you really want to go whole hog, for an additional $54.95 you can purchase a TV pack that sends radio signals to your Teletubby letting him interact with Teletubby videos. However, before you put out the extra money you may want to think twice. When we tested Barney's TV pack we found that children's video and doll experiences were not enhanced by the Actimate's participation.
$59.95, stand alone toy
