This comprehensive Spanish language program has a lot to offer. The CD allows students to record their own speech and compare it with one of 20 native speakers. Thirty lessons feature quality sound and digitized video that instruct in grammar, reading, writing and cultural information. The program effectively helps develop the language skills needed to deal with money, the use of transportation, visits to the doctor, securing accommodations and shopping. Students are also introduced to basic grammar rules such as the proper use of pronouns. Each of the 30 lessons are highly structured, providing practice with each vocabulary word in video or slide shows presenting the words in a story, real actor conversations, simple language exercises and some very basic but effective games. The presentation is not as entertaining as Spanish for the Real World, but is useful as a supplement or introduction for the middle or high school student.
