Please note that this product is not compatible with Windows 2000 or Windows ME. The following review appeared in the July 1998 issue of CSR. A special version is now sold by Hatch Associates (http://www.hatchstuff.com/default.asp). Finally! A desktop utility that is easy to use, yet contains the power to limit Internet access to preselected sites. Icons for the sites appear next to those representing CD-based software. While on the net, the program looks like a browser. It works with Navigator, AOL and Explorer and includes a timer that can be preset by adults. Features include a subscription to Kid-Safe Sites, a list of sites that can be downloaded free of charge from the Edmark web site to you child's KidDesk desktop. Some handy accessories are provided, including a calculator, a clock, voicemail, a calendar, a personal name plate and the ability to change the desktop theme. Also found in the program is Kid Browser, a browser with large buttons that lets children visit just the sites that have been preselected by an adult.
