Ideal for elementary teachers who want to help children understand basic map concepts, this program makes it possible to first design a map and then print it out in a variety of sizes. The results can be very handy for helping children understand maps from the perspective of a familiar place. For example, while tracking their own school bus routes, kids learn key map concepts by using a legend, interpreting scale distances and understanding compass directions. The program is very easy to use and is one of the few programs to offer an effective way to present map concepts to younger children. Note: See Neighborhood Map Machine 2.0 for a more recent version.
