Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots meets mini segways and RC vehicles -- in spirit anyway. After you assemble the 615 snap-together parts into a robot, you put in the 12 AA batteries (six in each robot) and download the controller app (VEX Pilot App) for your tablet or phone. Each player attempts to land punches to knock parts from the other player's robot. Don't worry -- the parts just snap back on. As with other Hexbug products, these robots make it easy for you to see how they work -- with all the gears and motors in view. Each robot needs a phone to use as a controller, in case you want to box with another player. The LEGO-like parts and self-stabilizing technology is cool but expensive, and the simple play pattern could be replicated in less costly ways.
