If you are interested how technology can be used to help storytelling, have a look at this app, by Dutch studio YipYip. Een Verre Reis (a distant journey) is an innovative Dutch language (no English) story about a child dressed as an elephant, who is driven by two ambitions. This is the first digital adaptation of a story by writer Toon Tellegen. The beautiful illustrations (by Gwen Stok) are nicely interwoven with interactive text, that you can move to unfold the story. The looping music should be easier to control, and there's no navigation features. But these are minor issues that don't get in the way of an amazing story. This is a 2017 BolognaRagazzi Digital Short List title.
