DragonBox Big Numbers
© 2016 WeWantToKnow AS
Children can informally tinker with number relationships as they freely explore in a lush jungle world full of "nooms" (unit block creatures), and things to collect. The more items you collect, combine and count, the more parts of your world you unlock. You start by picking apples that are combined into sets. Tracing the numerals represented by the sets helps you make the important numeral/number connections. You can then combine the numerals to unlock crystals. The "big numbers" involve base ten, and it is possible to use them to add and subtract. Your progress is saved automatically, and the app can store four player profiles. If you're looking for drill and practice, this isn't your app. This is a wonderful way for children to informally discover the amazing relationships that reside in numbers. Content includes about ten hours of play, in six different worlds. The are four language options, and no reading is required. The app costs a lot (by app standards) but contains no ads or in-app purchases. DragonBox Big Numbers was made in Norway, and is based on the same pedagogical principles as the other apps in the DragonBox series. Designed for graduates of DragonBox Numbers (CTR Dec 15).
