Here's an unusual story (about a King with goat ears), beautiful illustrations, but with some random interactivity. The app will be of special interest to those familiar with the printed book with the same title. The story is based on the Greek myth of King Midas, retold by poet Katarina Jovanovic; about self acceptance (in this case, the King has to figure out how to live with goat ears). Animated gags include the ability to give a cat a hair cut, a screen with drag-and-drop letters, and the ability to try accessorizing a pig. The reading level is best suited to independent readers around age 7, according to the publisher. The app is narrated by Terry Jones (Monty Python) and illustrated by Philippe Béhà. The producer is Cynthia Nugent, who made the app with the support of the Canada Media fund.
