Twelve wonderfully illustrated pets are cut in half, and their parts can be mixed and matched. This is the fourth app in the series, with illustrations from Axel Scheffler, new funny poems,121 silly animal hybrid names and combinations, and the same intuitive, swiping mechanism. And, once again, there’s also a simultaneously-published print edition, in the same spiral-bound, split-page board book format. It follows the same design as the first three, only with a new set of animals. The first three apps cover animals from the farm, safari and jungle. This app covers unusual pets. This is another excellent bite-sized starter app that is also a good language enrichment experience. The fonts and text highlighting also make it a noteworthy reading experience. Using a familiar design technique, children mix-and-match the top and bottom parts of animals. There are 11 complete animals, giving you the possibility to make 121 total combinations, each with a well written narrated rhyme, with the option to turn on/off word highlighting. The art is by Axel Scheffler, illustrator of The Gruffalo. See also Axel Scheffler's Flip Flap Farm, Axel Scheffler’s Flip Flap Safari and Axel Scheffler’s Flip Flap Jungle.
