The fifth in the Toca Life series (joining town, city, school and vacation), this open-ended virtual puppet show offers an endless supply of pretend play opportunities; this time around a farm theme. Content 29 new characters and four locations (barn, house, field and store). Nice touches include the ability to milk the cows, clean up the animal waste, plant seeds, and move items or people from one location to another. There's fruit to pick, a banjo to strum and a tractor to drive. But the most important feature is the ability to record your own stories, which can be saved as movies. Diversity is celebrated in this app, with a multiracial cast, including a child and a wheelchair prop. Children are informally exposed to the food cycle, from planting to selling... and, of course, eating. Make sure to introduce children to the "cleanup" feature on the main menu, which resets all the screens. Let them try it before they invest too much time making their own microworld.
