Highlights Shapes – Learning Puzzles for My Preschooler

Geometric shapes come to life as you become part of a short narrative, in this series of drag-and-drop shape puzzles. This "free" app is worth the download because you get the first 1/3 of content (or one story) before you have to pay for an additional "content pack." The second two chapters can be unlocked for a one time charge of $2.99. The single IAP contains chapters related to outer space and underwater. Content includes 11 types of shapes. Sadly this app does not support multi-touch, which is a missed opportunity for settings like preschools or libraries where a child or a child and a parent could solve a puzzle collaboratively. Also while this is a "free" app with an IAP to unlock the remaining 66% of the content, children are shown the purchase page (a potential tease) as well as the locked content in the main menu. Make sure you explore the parent's options, where you can adjust the sound. This is the second app produced by Italian app studio Colto, for Highlights for Children. This one follows a similar design used in the well-designed Shape Gurus.
