This open-end sound creation station has unusual illustrations and sounds; letting you turn your iPad into a DJ mix board. Controls include two turntables to simulate scratching, plus a small library of loops, beats and nature sounds. It is also possible to record your own sounds. Some of the icons used to represent sounds are hard to understand; and the "scratching" is not directly tied to your finger motions. But you learn them with time. One of the more powerful features is the ability to record your own sounds, for use in the loop. Mussila DJ is the second music app from Mussikids; the first was called Mussiland. The app comes from a studio located in Reykjavik, Iceland, run by Margrét Juliana Sigurdardottir. The app was funded by The Icelandic Technology Fund and Nordic Game Institute.
