Tinycards
© 2016 Duolingo
Just in time for back to school planning, this is a social sharing flashcard system that makes it easy to memorize factual information. After you make an account (easily done with a fake email address) you can choose one of the many existing decks (helped by user ratings), or make your own. The more you play, the more content you unlock. Besides your time, there are no other costs. Topics include North American Countries, Sign Language, Cell Structure, French, The Solar System and many more that have been contributed by others who have used the app. Tinycards uses "spaced repetition" combined with various quiz techniques which includes typing the answer (the hardest) and multiple-choice answers (touch the right card). This app is free, so what's the catch? You pay by contributing your time and content, so that others can study from the same deck that you just designed. Think of it as a million user study group. To better understand the thinking behind this app, learn more about Duolingo and the work of Carnegie Mellon University professor Luis von Ahn (also the inventor of reCAPTCHA) at http://read.bi/2b1iqeO.
