Responsive and straightforward, this leveled spelling game was designed by teachers, and it shows. It keeps you busy spelling common sight words, one letter at a time, in either upper or lower case. The more you play, the harder the challenge. You start with short vowels using the FLoSS rule (FLoSS is a memory aid: double the final “f”, “l” and “s” consonants at the end of certain words). Harder levels introduce new phonemic awareness activities. The app was developed in Sweden and tested in the US. The graphics aren't flashy but that doesn't matter. What is important is that the 250 words are well-matched to any curriculum selected. There is no record keeping -- instead children can use the menu to jump to a different level at any time. So this could be a stand-alone app for use in a classroom to supplement an existing curriculum.
