DreamWorks Wake Up With Shrek & Friends
© 2016 Fox and Sheep GmbH
In the well designed "Nighty Night" apps from Fox & Sheep http://reviews.childrenstech.com/ctr/review.php?id=14567 the objective is to gently put some farm animals to sleep, one tap at a time. This app takes the opposite approach. This time you wake six young Shrek-inspired characters, including Shrek, and a young Toothless dragon and help them get ready for the day. Some are hard to wake. You might open the blinds, remove their sheets, strum the guitar or pop balloons. But soon the eyes open and the narrator gently says "Good Morning" in your choice of 17 languages. An arrow icon then appears, letting you move to the bathroom, for the next screen. There, you help your friend brush his/her teeth and wash. The final two stations include eating and packing items for the day. Once all six creatures are awake, you get to do it all over again. There's just enough content to keep thing's interesting, and there are some spicy ideas such as eating bugs for breakfast, and brushing your teeth with green toothpaste. We checked the narration of five of the 17 languages and all were excellent. Like a Sago Mini app, this experience is high in accidental success, making it a good fail-safe starter app for a young preschooler.
