Tiggly Shape's Got Talent
© 2016 Tiggly
Here's a new twist for the Tiggly series of apps. This time each of the four rubber physical shape stamps (sold separately in a kit for $30) get their own personality and the chance to participate in a game show. You get to dress them up and record their dialog using your tablet's microphone. There are two modes: Playground and Learning. In Playground Mode you can move characters around, change outfits and record your own stories. The voice recording is good in theory, but the process feels clunky in reality in part because you are given short windows within which to record your voice. The Learning Mode is based around a scripted talent show that mixes a story with short shape matching challenges. The voices and production value are excellent, but the story doesn't offer much after the first few plays. Need to know: It is possible to use the app with out buying the rubber shapes, but it seems less fun. The cookie-cutter like shapes contains unique physical silicone touch points, so the iPad can recognize which shape is being used. No batteries or Bluetooth is required. The story and mini games were designed by Herb Ginsburg and Jill Turner.
