Chip the Robotic Dog
© 2016 WowWee USA, Inc.
Coming late summer 2016, a sophisticated robotic dog that pairs with your smart phone or tablet for a controller via Bluetooth. You will be able to download a free app to drive your dog around. Despite being small (about the size of a housecat), Chip contains about 20 sensors, transmitters and receivers that use IR (infrared), Bluetooth, and four very interesting "Mecanum" wheels -- one on each paw -- for quick movements in any direction. Chip is the first self-charging toy we've seen (besides a vacuum sweeper). A "bed" for charging is included. When the batteries are low, Chip will locate his bed and sit on two small contacts to refuel. Also included -- a ball with IR sensors that can be chased and fetched, and are wrist band for training. The idea is that you "like" certain behaviors on your wrist to train your dog. In addition, the dog can track and follow the band. Chip is self-charging. When the batteries get low, the dog will come over and sit on the charging bed. The technology in this dog is described at http://www.chipk9.com/tech/
